PuzzleUnlock uses artificial intelligence technology in several of its puzzle solver features. This page explains where and how AI is used on this site.

Which Features Use AI

The following PuzzleUnlock solver tools use AI technology powered by Claude AI (Anthropic) to generate results:

Crossword Solver — Claude AI interprets your crossword clue, identifies the most likely answer based on clue type and length, and explains its reasoning. AI is used because crossword clues require natural language understanding, wordplay recognition, and cultural knowledge that rule-based systems cannot provide.

NYT Connections Solver — Claude AI analyzes your 16 words and suggests the most likely four-group categorization based on semantic relationships, wordplay, compound word patterns, and cultural references.

Cryptic Crossword Solver — Claude AI identifies the wordplay mechanism in your cryptic clue (anagram, hidden word, reversal, charade, and so on), solves the wordplay construction, and explains every step of the reasoning.

Photo Scan — Several solvers including Sudoku, Boggle, Word Search, and Strands support photo scanning. When you photograph a puzzle grid, Claude AI's vision capability reads the letters or digits from the image and fills in the solver grid automatically.

Which Features Do Not Use AI

The following solver tools use algorithmic processing only — no AI is involved: Wordle Solver, Spelling Bee Solver, Scrabble Solver, Boggle Solver (text entry), Anagram Solver, Word Scramble Solver, Hangman Solver, Word Search Solver (text entry), Word Ladder Solver, Numberle Solver, Codeword Solver, Sudoku Solver (text entry), Kakuro Solver, KenKen Solver, Quordle Solver, Octordle Solver, Waffle Solver, Wordscapes Solver, Letter Boxed Solver, and Mini Crossword Solver.

Accuracy and Limitations

AI-generated results represent the model's best interpretation and may occasionally be incorrect. Crossword clue interpretations, Connections groupings, and cryptic clue decodings should be verified against the puzzle's own rules and crossing answers before submitting. PuzzleUnlock does not guarantee that AI-generated solver results match official puzzle answers.

Data Handling for AI Features

Puzzle inputs, clues, and uploaded images submitted to AI-powered features are transmitted to Anthropic for processing. These submissions should contain only puzzle-related content. Do not submit personal, confidential, financial, medical, or sensitive information through AI-powered features. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how submitted data is handled.
